Our heart-attack for the day

Chalk this up for another "freak accident" for poor Mike. All we got was a phone call saying Hal's brother fell from scaffolding, in critical condition in surgery," and we immediately remembered the last phone call like that when he broke his back skiing (overshot his jump landing by about 20 feet)...

We're glad you're alive, man.

How randomly funny!

Many moons ago, I worked one street over in SF and this would have made me pee my pants to witness on a random day!

5 and alive!

HaPpy BiRthDaY BaBy!!

So cliche, but I really can't believe my baby is 5!
Kya is my best bud--that's what we call it.
"Mom, we're buddies in...
...movies,
...cleaning,
...shopping,
...chefs (cooking)
...sewing"
...or whatever we happen to be doing that day.

I love this kid to death. She has an incredible heart and an innate sense of who she is.

Kya absolutely LOVES museums (we hit 2 the week we left SF)
so we took her party to Salt Lake where she could have most of her cousins and play at the museum (and mom doesn't have to worry about ANYTHING!)

It was a Princess and Pirates theme and they went on a treasure hunt throughout the museum and then the terrible pirate stole their treasure! I was so surprised to see how excited the kids were - literally running to each clue (you never know if it will be a hit or not!)

Here is Kya shooting the canyon at the bad pirate. They captured him, threw a net over him and attacked him with their swords and all ran off with the treasure. Pretty funny.

More weekend festivities at the Hill's cabin:
Question: who do you think created this archery target? Seriously - I was laughing when I finally figured out what Hal was doing with the pineapple.
Only Hal...

Some serious fun!

So my baby no longer...I had to linger on a few pictures through the years. She was the cutest darn baby/toddler!
Mmm...I love you kiddo

Silhouette Project

I fell in love with this silhouette!
I took a shot of Kya on Hal's back and used Carina's Silhouette Photoshop tutorial
for a shirt for Hal for Father's Day.
I'm still hoping to put up a silhouette (of Kya) to match Kya's room. TOO CUTE!
I actually used the magic wand tool and selected the inverse instead of tracing like Carina did (I just wasn't that talented!)

Anyhow - I always love a good photoshop tip so check it out!

Has it really been 8?

Man, time has flown by.
8 years ago I married my best friend...
(ok, this shot is really just for Shelly and Kate)
And how many graduations later?
(This is the first of our 4 since we were married)
Guess who didn't win the good wife award...
and this wasn't the last time either...sorry Hal!
Texas Trio
I told Hal I wanted a quiet anniversary
(no rats in Mexico, no food poisoning in San Diego, etc)
so we spent a fantastic weekend in McCall: my Mini-Lake Tahoe.
You can probably just see how tired and beat up I look.
I think I spent over 5 hours in appointments the day before (no, not waiting, seriously just doctors appointments).
We stayed on the lake and it couldn't have been more perfect!

A little out of order--one of our moves to California:

Right after we moved to Canada (and prego with Kya)

It's been a good journey. It's crazy to think of everything we've done, accomplished, and gone through. I'm glad it was all with Hal.

I have to laugh - only 8 years into it and he has to help me put a pony tail in my hair, file the nails on my good hand, drive me to my appointments, and put on a dang bra. You'd think I was 95 already! Maybe I'm just prepping him!

Ya, I love that it was all with Hal. Still best friends and better...
