Fell in love with this photo. I've looked at it several times since I read the article.
But the opening paragraph said it all:
I've thought a lot about the symbolism of this shot. Not only the increase in presence of women in the olympics, but also of her ability to hold to her values and race shoulder to shoulder. She stands out and I absolutely love that. I won't even go into my thoughts - you can form your own just by looking at the photo.
I believe that in some regard, we can each see a portion of ourself in her. Or even a hope of what we can become...

Ok, I guess I didn't see it the way you did. I felt sorry for her! I was like how miserable that her country and religon run by men would make her wear that. But, I guess if it was her choice, then good for her for keeping her morals.
I saw this girl running and was just amazed that she would still wear all of that to compete. Good for her for standing up and showing what she truly believes. Especially in that heat and humidity.
What a cool shot. Look at the determination on her face. I love it. It's interesting that most things that seem to hold us back in the end really motivate and empower us, whether it's by us overcoming them or by the hidden power in faith and obedience.
