Our Princess

This is what Kya wore to church a few weeks ago. And would you believe that we were actually 10 minutes early because we didn't have the usual tears over what to wear! She has recently requested we call her "Kya Christine Princess" whenever we address her but that changed today when she wouldn't respond to me. She finally said, "My name isn't Kya, it's Barbie"--wah - NOnononono - we'll be going back to "Princess."

Of course, now that I'm finally posting, I can't think of all her stories lately that have been bustin' me up! We were walking into Walmart this week and that gust of air hit her and she yelled, "Mom! It's Winter in Texas!!" - almost, Kya. Almost.

Ky went swimming with Hal a week or two ago and she slipped off the step and started sinking. Anyhow, she now proudly tells me she can swim: "I CAN swim, mom. I swam DOWN, mom! I swam down!"

She got her first big scrape on her knee (yes, how did we manage to make it to three years old with one scraped knee? ...and yet, knocked out teeth, two surgeries, etc...) She freaked out and I couldn't console her. She kept screaming every time I touched a bandaid even though I could tell it wasn't hurting her. After trying to ask her what was wrong--was the bandaid going to bite her? She admitted through major sobs that she didn't want to take her "owie" to the Dentist because he'll pull her teeth out and it hurts. By then I was about in tears and realized that most of her emotional state it still recovering from 7-8 months ago. After 30 minutes of consoling, she hobbled (yes, limping and hopping) the rest of the way to the pool and had the bravest look on her face afterward--like she had just conquered her worst fears. Bless her little heart...
